ABOUT THE SHOWROOM

The Curated Library is a design showroom within the coastal town of Inverloch, founded by Darren and Jayne Stewardson, whose complimentary work and skillset have collided into a range of end-to end fireplace design-related services. With a refined eye for proportion, texture, and architectural detail, Jayne, designer and owner of Hatch Design Studio – creates interiors that feel refined and timeless, reflecting the surrounding landscape and rhythm of modern Australian coastal and rural living.

Darren, director of Concrete by Hatch – produces stunning concrete benchtops, fire hearths and free-standing fireplace plinths. His work is now featured in many beautiful homes throughout the Bass Coast, South Gippsland, the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne and beyond. He also is the owner of Bass Coast Plumbing & Heating – and is a licensed wood and gas fireplace installer.

The Curated Library is a space which captures the combination of our interior design services, concrete work and fireplace installation services – whilst also housing and supplying an edited collection of fireplaces by well-regarded and re-known Australian brands Kemlan, Coonara, Horizon, Heat Charm and Arrow.

The Curated Library is your local fireplace dealer and design showroom, showcasing finely crafted fireplaces from Australia’s leading makers — Kemlan, Horizon, Coonara, Arrow, and Heat Charm — alongside premium electric fireplaces from Britain’s Charlton & Jenrick.

Our current display collection features three distinct types of fully functional fireplaces, each showcasing different styles, materials, and performance characteristics to suit a variety of tastes and needs. We also display a selection of additional display models from the Kemlan and the Coonara ranges.

Whether you are upgrading an existing fireplace or planning a new installation from scratch, our knowledgeable team can help you select a model that complements your interior, meets your heating requirements and aligns with your budget.

The Curated Library is also home to our in-house design team, Hatch Design Studio, so we can manage both the design and installation of your fireplace wall or room if required. Our showroom is open every Thursday and Friday (except public holidays) and features a curated selection of working fireplaces with finished surrounds in a variety of materials, plus an expanding range of display models.

If you’re planning a fireplace wall or room, we encourage you to book an Initial Design Consultation by completing our contact form. We can meet at the showroom or at your home. With extensive hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the often complex technical requirements for different fireplace types and models, we provide tailored advice and practical solutions. You can rely on us to design and install a surround that meets your aesthetic goals while satisfying safety standards: correct construction, specified materials, appropriate combustible clearances, and full compliance with the technical requirements of your chosen fireplace.

Our showroom also houses a large sample library—stone, tiles, brick-face tiles, timber profiles, plaster finishes, MDF mouldings, wallpapers, upholstery fabrics, rugs, furniture catalogues and more—to help you make informed, distinctive design decisions.

The Curated Library houses the work of ‘Concrete By Hatch’ — one of our sister businesses. We began crafting concrete benchtops in 2017 and have gradually refined our focus to specialise more prominently in manufacturing concrete fire hearths and alfresco/BBQ benchtops and bench seats for our clients. Consider how one of our handcrafted concrete pieces could become an eye-catching centrepiece for the heart of your home.

Our most popular pieces include:

WE’RE A LICENSED INSTALLER
FOR WOOD & GAS FIREPLACES

We don’t just sell fireplaces — we help you choose the right type, size and brand. We carefully select a product to suit your lifestyle, budget, space constraints, room size, energy needs and interior style. Our service includes licensed installation for both wood and gas fireplaces, performed by Bass Coast Plumbing & Heating.

We offer free home consultations within Inverloch and Wonthaggi. A licensed in-house plumber will visit your home to assess the installation site and recommend the best fireplace for your needs, then provide a tailored supply-and-installation quote. (Visits outside these areas incur a fee — please contact us for details.)

The Curated Library is also conveniently home to an organised and curated library of interior finishes, fittings and fixtures to complement your home.

Our supply range includes stone, tiles, benchtops, joinery finishes, wallpapers, fabrics, tapware, timber profiles, carpets, door hardware and so on.

In addition, we have a stunning collection of Warwick, James Dunlop and Mokum fabrics, New Zealand Wool BAYA rugs, beautiful working tapware from Faucett Strommen and represent Australian-made Molmic sofas. These brands are from favourite suppliers of ours, and whom we have built a trusted relationship with over time.

Via our sister business, Hatch Design Studio, we offer a suite of interior services tailored to your needs and budget. Options include stand-alone consultations (when appropriate for the project), styling, kitchen or bathroom redesigns, and full-scope interior design. Every engagement receives a personalised, bespoke approach.

Our team brings extensive industry knowledge and access to a large sample library: upholstery fabrics, wallpapers, indoor and outdoor rugs, carpets, floorboards, ceramic and stone tiles, natural stone wall cladding, benchtops, cabinetry fronts and hardware, tapware, lighting, timber and MDF wall profiles, plaster finishes, paint colours, and more.

Over the past decade we’ve developed strong relationships with trusted local suppliers, installers and tradespeople, enabling us to not only design your space but, where appropriate, coordinate implementation. We can also recommend reliable builders for new builds and structural renovations.

Sarah resides in the beautiful coastal town of Walkerville, and her work reflects the beauty of the bush, coast and flora unique to South Gippsland and the Bass Coast.
